Hello, I am Tobias, a geek prepper, and the owner of GeekPrepper.com. Here you will find a host of prepping and survival related topics written by experts that specialize in specific areas of prepping and survival. The information we provide is data driven and fact based, and void of fear driven, paranoid and irrational thought. Geeks are smart, prepping is smart, so we prepare smart.
Now a little about me. I grew up in rural Iowa where self sufficiency and independence come second nature. I have learned much about wilderness survival and prepping from my family and community.
My brother is an expert bow hunter and runs a business selling hunting goods, my father is a third generation farmer and teacher, and my mother comes from a family of builders and craftsman.
You’ll often find me in a canoe or kayak, hiking, hunting, fishing, doing handy work and repairs, and shooting guns.
I grew up surrounded by the Amish, and watching buckskinners, and hunters who have furthered my self sufficiency and survival knowledge.
My most recent influence has been working with the Amish, who are true preppers and survivalists. They live completely off the grid, hunt, and feed themselves off the land.
Most of us have been pulled away and from our old ways of life by the lure of modern conveniences, and because making a living off the land has become more difficult.
While I built a career working with the Amish, I operate web businesses and am a computer geek. My aim with GeekPrepper.com is to share what I have learned about prepping and survival, while hopefully learning a new thing or two myself
My preparedness and SHTF philosophy is to hope for the best and plan for the worst. I prefer not to live in fear of what may or may not come, but to simply enjoy being outdoors, being self sufficient, being aware of the political and economic climate, and having SHTF preparedness be a resulting benefit.
